Dear Ron

I'm an Aussie cartoonist who would love to hear the Batfink theme again
- I remember watching it as a kid, and it's been nagging me for years.
I'm also a fan of Super-Chicken.
Congratulations for such a great site.

Cheers!

Steve Panozzo

Great choices. I've encoded both the Batfink theme and the Super Chicken theme in RealAudio, and they are available at The Toon Tracker RealAudio Pages.

There is a Super Chicken web page done by Dave Farmer. Click HERE to go to it.

There is a great Batfink site by Dave Mackey. You can go to it by clicking HERE.

Dear Ronald,

Thank you again for your prompt reply to my question about "Diver
Dan", "Bucky and Pepito" (I finally spelled Pepito correctly), and
"Twinkles". I would appreciate any information on where any videos
of those might be obtained.

In addition, I have to also please ask that you consider two more
questions. The first one is a rather desparation attempt to find
out about a cartoon called, as best I can remember (the last time I
saw the cartoon was when I was 2 or 3 years old), "Snip and Snap".
This cartoon began with a woman singing the words "Snip and snap ..."
and it should a scotty dog being cut out of paper. While traveling
in a paper boat, the scotty dog was being relentlesly pursued (or so
it seemed to my very young mind), by a bull dog paper cut-out in
another paper boat. Do you know if this cartoon was, as the English
would say, a "one off" affair or were numerous "Snip and Snap"
cartoons made?

In addition, I also recall seeing a Pinocchio series done with
wooden puppets in a George Pal sort of style. There was a witch in
this cartoon and she rode on a vacuum cleaner, as I recall. I also
remember seeing a very detailed dragon in this Pinocchio cartoon.
The theme song would end with, again, as I best recall, "... but he
will never, never, never tell a lie" Yes, Pinocchio's nose grew
long in this cartoon, but I'm not sure that it only occured (or
occured at all, for that matter), because of his telling a lie. In
any case, I might have forgotten about this one altogether had I not
again seen it when I was 10 years old. It was shown some weekend
afternoon in Chicago and I think I saw a few episodes, not just one.
At that time, I remembered that I had not seen it for about five
years.

Well, thanks again so much for your attention to these questions. I
am very glad that through your services I was able to locate "Colonel
Bleep", "Space Angel" and "Clutch Cargo" videos. I'll be heading
off to the internet to vote Toon Tracker as the coolest Geotoon
cartoon page for June (or any month for that matter!).

Sincerely,
John M. Uscian

Hi John,

First of all, thanks for the vote. Now, for the questions.

I have only been able to find one episode of Diver Dan on video, and it wasn't an official release. It was from a Chicago company called TV Lost and Found, and it was a limited edition tape with clips from old Chicago area TV shows. The dubs on the tape were second or third generation, so the quality wasn't very good. I had located the tapes at a Chicago toy show several years ago and I am uncertain as to whether any are still available (the tape had no address for the company).

The company that holds the rights to Diver Dan may be of help. The property is owned by John Ferlaine, Brian Kellman and Martin Young. Their e-mail address is: diverdan7@aol.com or write to:
Brian Film Productions, LLC 254 West 25th Street, #6A New York, NY 10001

UPDATE - Dan McCormick e-mailed the following to me on August 1, 1997:

Hi again, Ron!

I was reading the latest Movies Unlimited Catalog, and found a tape titled "Chicago Television". Available for $19.99, the tape is described as follows:

"Past and present Second City residents won't want to miss this salute to local Chicago shows from way back when. Includes clips from Don McNeill's Breakfast Club, Garfield Goose & Friends, and Svengoolie; sports action with the Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Black Hawks; complete episodes of Clutch Cargo, Diver Dan, Suzy Snowflake, and more; plus footage of the 1933 World's Fair; the Beatles at Comiskey Park, and the 1968 Democratic Convention. 120 minutes."

Since it has Clutch, Diver, and footage from Garfield Goose, I figured you'd be interested in this.

Their address is:

Movies Unlimited
3015 Darnell Rd.
Philadelphia, PA 19154-3295
1-800-4MOVIES

Thanks Dan. This is the same tape that I encoded the Diver Dan theme from. TV Lost and Found put out this tape and a companion tape, Chicago TV2. I'm glad to know that it's still available. Thanks again, Dan.

Hey, don't forget to check out Dan's GREAT Hoppity Hooper Homepage. It's full of lots of neat information and goodies pertaining to Hoppity, and to other Jay Ward shows!

As for Bucky and Pepito, I am also not aware of any video releases. I have been trying to locate information regarding Sam Singer Productions without success as yet. If anyone knows any background info on Sam Singer please e-mail me.

The Snip and Snap question eludes me. I am not familiar with the storyline, and can't find anything based on the information you provided. If anyone has any information regarding it, please e-mail me and I'll post it on the request page.

The Pinocchio cartoon you mention is probably the series Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass did for Canada's Videocraft International in 1961. I have the theme song for this on the Toon Tracker RealAudio Page.

It was filmed in "Animagic", the same technique Rankin-Bass used for their Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer holiday special.

As always, I hope I've helped. Thanks for the vote and your continued interest. I'm glad to be able to use my hobby to help others relive their pasts.

I'd like to know if The Osmonds cartoon was made by
Filmation or was it Hanna Barbara? Please Help I'm puzzled

Randy Los Angelas Ca.

Hi Randy,

It was neither. The Osmonds cartoons were produced in London by Halas and Batchelor for Rankin-Bass Poductions. It was seen on ABC-TV from September 9, 1972 through September 1, 1974.

I am looking for Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse
pictures. Anything would be nice, prefferably them together
but I will not be too picky. I am thinking of getting
a CC and MM tattoo, so I need something good. No
cartoon encyclopedias exist in my area, so any
help you could lend would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Marc

Hi Marc

I've put up several new pictures of Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse on the
Toon Tracker Courageous Cat Page

Hope you like them, and good luck with the tattoo.

I am looking for information on an old cartoon show called
"Ruff 'n Ready" or something like that. It was a cat (Ready) and
a dog (Ruff). I remember this cartoon from the late 60's when I was
about 4. I've often wondered what ever became of the cartoon and
if I could find videos or images of it. Thanks.

For pictures and some background information, check out Toon Tracker's Ruff and Reddy Page.
The theme song to Ruff and Reddy is available in RealAudio at the Toon Tracker RealAudio Page

A Ruff and Reddy adventure was released in the late 1980's on a Worldvision Home Video entitled Hanna-Barbera's Personal Favorites: Animal Follies, but I am not aware of any other video releases.

From: Michael Kennedy (mjkennedy@aristotle.net)

I have been trying to find some information about a
full length animated movie that I saw long ago. The title was
"Hoppity Goes To Town". It was the story of a community of
bugs that are doomed to lose their homland (a vacant lot in the city)
to the construction of a new high rise apartment building. Hoppity
saves the day and they end up living in the penthouse garden.
I'm not sure, but I think that Jimmy Stewart was the voice of Hoppity.
Can you find out something about this great film?

Michael Kennedy

Hoppity Goes To Town was originally titled Mr. Bug Goes T Town, and was the second (and final) feature-length cartoon from the Max Fleischer Studio (Betty Boop, Popeye). It was originally released by Paramount in December, 1941. The late Mr. Stewart probably inspired the lead character, but did not provide the voice. The voices were done by Kenny Gardner, Gwen Williams, Jack Mercer, Ted Pierce, Mike Meyer, Stan Freed and Pauline Loth.

This cartoon featured some beautiful animation, utilizing Fleischer's patented 3-D backgrounds and multi-plane camera. Unfortunately the cartoon was not a financial success and has been mentioned as one of the reasons that the Fleischer Studio folded.

There is a feature on Mr. Bug (aka Hoppity) in the current issue of Animato! magazine, available at most comic book shops or bookstores like Barnes & Noble. The cartoon has also been released on video by Republic Pictures Home Video. If you're interested in owning a copy, check with Suncoast or another video outlet as to back ordering it.

I hope this helps you.

Put in the Alvin Show

Hi Javier,

I'd love to do a page on Alvin, but there are already
numerous pages on the internet devoted to the Chipmunks.

Check out Jon Cooke's Unofficial Chipmunks Page,
or The Chipmunk Palace
or Cartoon-O-Rama's Alvin Show Page

I hope these help you.
